We are seeking engineers who want to innovate and apply their knowledge to the challenges of industry and society to support emerging approaches to digitalisation for industry 4.0 within AMIC's advanced manufacturing activities. You will apply your specialist knowledge and experience of methods and processes, to generate innovative research outputs which have a direct economic and technical benefit to companies and sectors. You will work collaboratively with your team, industry, technology providers, national technology centres and academia to deliver key projects focused on advanced manufacturing. You will be involved in implementing a Unified Namespace Architecture within AMICs facilities on a state-of-the-art modern infrastructure and demonstrating best practices to industry. About the person 1. Educational Background: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline; OR Extensive recent and relevant industrial experience directly related to the role. 2. Technical Expertise: Manufacturing Systems Integration - Understanding of MES, ERP systems and their role within Industry 4.0 architectures. Industrial Data Architecture – Understanding of how to structure and contextualise data across multiple systems (MES, ERP, SCADA, IIOT). Tag Hierarchy Design - Ability to design logical and scalable tag structures that reflect physical and digital assets across the enterprise. Industrial Protocols & Communication – Familiarity of protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profibus for secure industrial data exchange. Security & Access Control – Ability to implement role-based authentication, cybersecurity best practices, and compliance with industrial data governance. Event-Driven Architecture - Experience with publish/subscribe patterns, real-time data streaming, and workflow automation Programming & Scripting - Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar for industrial automation and data processing applications. 3. Experience: Demonstrable evidence of working within multifaceted environments delivering to deadlines and within budget. Experience of using research/industrial tools and techniques resulting in high quality projects and technical reports. About the job: We are seeking a Research Fellow t o lead the computational chemistry aspects of a BBSRC-funded collaborative project 'Unlocking GPCR Signalling Bias: A Multiscale Approach to GPR84 and Beyond'. The role-holder will work closely with medicinal chemists at University of Oxford and pharmacologists at University of Glasgow, applying virtual screening, machine learning, AI-driven generative chemistry, pharmacophore modelling, and molecular dynamics simulations to design novel GPR84 ligands with predictable signalling bias profiles. About The Person The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Hold or be about to obtain* (must be obtained* within 3 months of start date in post) PhD in computational chemistry, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, pharmacology or related discipline. We are seeking a team-player who is passionate about innovative technology to play a major role in the leadership, management and expansion of applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer in Tooling. For this post "Tooling" refers to the Assembly & Fixture tooling, Tooling for advanced composite and polymer component processing, Additive Tooling technology and may include cutting tool developments. You will lead and develop a team of engineers, scientists and technicians in the strategic direction and delivery of multiple concurrent Tooling projects across AMIC. Tooling projects will cover managing diverse range of tool manufacturing processes and validation methodologies. You will work in collaboration with different AMIC technology areas, technology providers, national technology centres, academia and industry to deliver key projects, develop regional and international links, and secure partnerships and funding. About the post Essential Criteria: Honours Degree, or equivalent, in related engineering discipline or substantial relevant experience working in a similar role. Substantial relevant experience managing multifaceted industrial-focused tooling research & development projects on time and within budget. Expert proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Mastercam) and tooling simulation software for composites with demonstrated ability to integrate digital technologies into tooling design workflows. Evidence of in-depth expertise in tooling design and validation across multiple manufacturing processes (e.g. (e.g. Assembly and fixture tooling across multiple sectors, hard and soft tooling for processes such as RTM, Autoclave Cure and press moulding for composites and injection moulding and rotational moulding for wider polymers, modular tooling systems, rapid tooling, additive manufactured tooling, etc), including correlation between tooling design, process requirements and component performance. Demonstrable experience leading tooling design development, optimisation and implementation across multiple concurrent projects, with evidence of effective technical outcomes through major project delivery, reports, publications, patents or product designs. Strong experience of collaborative working, team leadership and project leadership, including management of cross-functional engineering teams to deliver complex composite manufacturing outcomes. Experience of building networks of industrial and research stakeholders across the UK, Ireland and internationally, with proven ability to secure substantial business partnerships or funding to support composite research activities. Applied knowledge of safety, risk, and regulatory compliance in tooling design and manufacturing environments. Proven ability to work strategically with tooling vendors and cross-functional teams to develop capabilities that meet quality, performance, and delivery standards. Ability to communicate complex technical information to range of audiences through effective written reports and presentations, adjusting approach to meet audience needs. Strong problem-solving skills in a complex industrial environment, with evidence of developing innovative solutions to challenging composite manufacturing problems. Research Fellow - Climate Adaptation and Horticulture

The postholder will lead the initial development of a report and evidence portfolio that will help to inform a Horticultural Strategy for Northern Ireland as part of the Maximising UK Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) Hub, funded by NERC and DEFRA. The post holder will design and facilitate a structured programme of stakeholder engagement across Northern Ireland's horticultural sector, drawing on the Three Horizons framework to identify shared visions, barriers, and transition pathways for climate-adapted food production. The post is hosted within the Co-Centre for Climate, Biodiversity and Water at Queen's University Belfast and will work in close partnership with the Climate NI Team at Northern Ireland Environment Link (NIEL) and the MACC Hub coordination team, contributing to climate adaptation-focused knowledge sprints across all four jurisdictions of the UK. About the person The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Have or be about to obtain* a relevant PhD in a discipline related to food systems, agri-food geography, rural sociology, environmental science, ecology, agriculture, horticulture or closely related field (*must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment).
