Applications are invited for:- Faculty of Social Science Professor (Ref: 260000RI) The Faculty of Social Science invites applications for the post of Professor. The appointee will be expected to serve as the inaugural Director for the new inter-Faculty undergraduate programme in Diplomacy and International Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). This innovative programme aims to nurture high-level, interdisciplinary talent who are proficient in both Chinese and Western cultures and are prepared to excel in international relations, international organizations and diplomatic arenas. With a particular focus on China’s role in global governance, the programme sees to students’ developing a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and political dimensions of China’s engagement in international affairs. The Faculty is seeking a visionary leader with demonstrated commitment to teaching, programme management, and the development of this distinctive new initiative. Applicants are expected to have: (i) a PhD degree in International Relations/International Law or related disciplines; (ii) a distinguished record of academic achievements and international recognition in research, scholarship and teaching; (iii) proven record of leadership and extensive administrative experience at senior levels, preferably in a prominent research institution; (iv) demonstrated ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration; and (v) strong international network and experience in programme development. We welcome applications from both fresh PhD graduates and seasoned Assistant Professors who are engaged in high-quality scholarship specialized in macro management areas (e.g., strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, international business, family business, sustainability, etc.) or micro management areas (e.g., organizational behavior, leadership, human resource management, etc.). Applicants should possess a PhD degree in management or a related discipline; have a publication record commensurate with the years of experience; and be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service. Responsibilities include publishing high-quality scholarly research; teaching management courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; and participating in academic and professional activities. The appointee(s) is/are also encouraged to apply for external funding to support research endeavors.
