King's, London

Peter Parker, professor of cancer cell biology at King's College London, co-manages the institution's new Experimental Cancer Centre, in which clinical and non-clinical academics work together on translational research and advancing patient care.

Professor Parker, head of the Cancer Studies Division, was previously based at Cancer Research UK's London research institute. "Cancer is a key priority within King's," he said. "I want to see all the activities of all the clever people working on cancer at King's converted to changes in practice."

The Experimental Cancer Centre works with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Healthcare NHS Trust to provide the infrastructure and support for more clinical trials to give patients a choice in terms of novel therapies.
