Monkey business troubles University of California
An escaped rhesus macaque monkey from a University of California medical research laboratory has strengthened community opposition to plans for a research centre designed to aid knowledge of potential bilogical weapons. The monkey, which has eluded capture for ten days, is said by university officials to be disease-free.

Beagle 2 on course for Mars, via Toulouse
Beagle 2 , the British probe that will look for signs of life on Mars, was today en route to rendezvous with the spacecraft that will carry it to the Red Planet. The lander is being taken to Toulouse, France, to be fitted to the Mars Express orbiter. Mars Express is due to be launched from Baikonur in Kazakhstan this summer at the start of a six-month space voyage. The project is headed by Colin Pillinger's team at the Open University.
