University of Strathclyde - How's that for impact?

Manufacturers and engineering companies have joined forces with academics to establish a research centre in Glasgow. Boeing, Mettis Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, Scottish Enterprise and US-based Titanium Metals Corp are founding partners of the Advanced Forming Research Centre, to be built close to Glasgow airport and managed by the University of Strathclyde. The centre, which will open later this year, will aid manufacturing in the aerospace, automotive, energy and marine industries, and the university also hopes to attract experts in power generation and renewable energy. It is expected to be valued at £30 million by 2014.
