University of Strathclyde: £1m power brokers

Global energy firm Doosan Babcock, which recruits more than 50 graduate engineers annually to work in power plants across the globe, has agreed a £1 million deal for a masters training scheme with the University of Strathclyde. The three-year deal will see employees and new graduate recruits offered masters-level training in the specialised field of power plant engineering - Scotland's first dedicated course in this area. Colin Grant, dean of the faculty of engineering, said: "While some industries are facing a challenging business outlook, the power engineering sector is bucking the trend and offers very attractive career paths for graduate professionals."
