University of St Andrews: Vettriano's gift

八月 14, 2008

A sketch by Scottish artist Jack Vettriano of his most celebrated work, The Singing Butler, will be auctioned by Sotheby's - with an estimated price of £20,000 - at the end of this month in support of the University of St Andrews's student charities drive. Mr Vettriano, who holds an honorary doctorate of letters from the institution, donated the sketch to the university after giving a student masterclass in 2003. The St Andrews Students Charities Campaign supports local, national and international charitable causes. Mr Vettriano agreed that the sketch should be donated after students raised £160,000 last year.
