Cats' aggression towards their owners may be more common than previously thought, according to research from the University of Lincoln. A collaboration with Brazilian researchers surveyed cat owners in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo and found that almost half had witnessed their pets hiss, scratch, bat or bite a person in the household. Previous studies had estimated the prevalence of such behaviour at about one in eight. The study surveyed about 100 cat owners and was published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery.
