University of Leeds - Rock music

十二月 31, 2009

Nearly £200,000 has been awarded by Natural England, an independent public body designed to protect and improve England's natural environment, to the University of Leeds for a project to introduce children to geology. The scheme, which is being supported by the percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, will see schoolchildren visit local quarries to collect rocks that make different notes when struck. They will then make musical instruments with their geological finds. Bobbie Millar, the project's co-ordinator, said: "For some people geology can seem very academic, but this project is designed to make it fun."
