University of Leeds - Hydrogen breakthrough

八月 5, 2010

Researchers believe they have opened the door to the new hydrogen economy by finding an energy-efficient way to make the element out of used vegetable oil. Scientists at the University of Leeds believe their method solves the problem of manufacturing hydrogen without consuming vast amounts of energy because it self-generates some of the heat needed to extract the substance. An added ingredient also traps the carbon dioxide produced, making the process carbon-neutral. The researchers are now trialling the process on a larger scale.
