University of Kent - Stirling effort

A £6.25 million university building is in the running for a prestigious architectural award. The Jarman Building, which houses the University of Kent's School of Arts, is up for for the Royal Institute of British Architects' Stirling Prize, after it was one of five winners of the RIBA South East regional award. The building was named after the acclaimed British artist Derek Jarman, and contains state-of-the-art facilities including drama and film studios, computing and editing suites, a large art gallery, teaching rooms, postgraduate space and staff offices. The winner of the Stirling Prize will be announced in October.
