Doctors and nurses are descending on Dundee to take part in a summer school to promote research into the prevention of chronic diseases. The first-ever University of Dundee Summer School on Epidemiology and Global Health, which is running until 16 July, will also discuss progress made towards achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals set out by the United Nations. Margaret Smith, dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, said the aim was to stimulate research in the area and give "key skills" to healthcare professionals from across the world to achieve practical advances.
