University of Bristol - Push for Britons in space

A group of scientists and engineers led by Mark Hempsell of the University of Bristol has suggested the UK should get involved in human space flight by adding two new modules to the International Space Station. For a "relatively modest cost", the British Habitation Extension Module proposal would, it says, inspire the public, enthuse a new generation and raise the UK's profile. The £530 million proposal was put forth by Dr Hempsell, a senior lecturer in astronautics, in the latest issue of Spaceflight magazine. The UK is not presently involved in the International Space Station programme or in human space flight.
