University of Bristol - No sound like home

Baby corals use the sounds of animals on the reef to find their way home in their early days, new research has discovered. A team of Dutch scientists used equipment and expertise supplied by University of Bristol academics to discover that coral larvae behave in a similar way to fish by using sound as a cue. Their work in the Caribbean has raised fresh concerns for the future of coral reefs given the rise of human noise pollution in the world's oceans.
