Ulster University researchers have teamed up with Belfast City Hospital to investigate whether soy products offer protection against prostate cancer.

Ian Rowland, professor of human nutrition, said the link between high soy consumption and low rates of serious prostate cancer was supported by studies of animals fed high soy diets and laboratory research in which cancer cells were treated with compounds from soy beans. Men coming to hospital for prostate biopsies will be invited to join the study, which will involve taking milk drinks with soy compounds for four months.
