Dolly lab to research stem cells
The laboratory that produced Dolly, the world’s first cloned sheep, has been granted a one-year licence by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority to experiment on human embryonic stem cells. The licence granted to the Roslin Institute near Edinburgh does not allow researchers to clone human embryos.

A 63-year-old Oxford don has won Britain’s richest non-fiction prize with the first book he has ever written on his own subject - Russian literature. T. J. Binyon, until this year a senior research fellow at Wadham College, took the £30,000 Samuel Johnson award for his biography of the poet Pushkin.
