The truth is out there. Kevin Warwick, professor of cybernetics at the University of Reading, famous for having a silicon chip transponder surgically implanted in his left arm, is to give this year's Christmas Lectures at the Royal Institution.

A Royal Institution pamphlet tracing Professor Warwick's career includes his being described as "Britain's leading prophet of the robot age" by none other than Gillian Anderson, aka Dana Scully, investigator of the paranormal in The X-Files.
