Tee, anyone?

What a good wheeze, thought the chaps at the Indiana University board of trustees. How better to make use of a bit of undeveloped university land than to build a designer golf course? Professors and students were less impressed, citing damage to the environment, disrupted teaching and the bad example of using public land for a private club. The trustees have since dropped the plan, conceding potential "incongruence of mission" between a public university and a private golf club, but have not given up entirely. They note that Indiana University still needs a "first-class golf facility" for

the men's and women's golf teams - as well as for recreational users.
