Swedish conference to examine FP5 research on stratospheric ozone

四月 24, 2002

Brussels, 23 April 2002

The results of European research on stratospheric ozone carried out under the EU's Fifth Framework programme for research (FP5) will be presented at the Sixth European symposium on stratospheric ozone in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 2 to 6 September 2002.

The symposium will present results from European research clusters funded under the FP5 'Environment and sustainable development' programme, including ATUV (Atmospheric UV radiation), CORSAIRE (Coordination of research for the study of aircraft impact on the environment), GATO (Global atmospheric observations), OCLI (Ozone-climate interactions) and SOLO (Stratospheric ozone loss). Further analysis of measurements made during THESEO (Third European stratospheric experiment on ozone) will also be presented.

Sessions on specific scientific topics such as polar ozone loss, dynamics and transport, ozone-climate interactions and UV radiation will be included.

The symposium is being organised by the European Commission, Sweden's Chalmers University of Technology, the Swedish National space board, the Swedish Research Council for the environment, agricultural sciences and spatial planning and the Swedish space corporation.

All interested scientists are invited to attend.
