Support for Monash v-c after plagiarism report

六月 28, 2002

A meeting of the Monash University governing council in Melbourne on Monday night voted unanimously to support its vice-chancellor David Robinson, after it was reported in last week's THES that he had plagiarised from other academics while working in England in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Professor Robinson took material published by another academic and used it without attribution for a chapter in a 1983 book, Drug Use and Misuse: Cultural Perspectives . Four years earlier, he had borrowed heavily from another author for a chapter in the book Alcoholism Perspective .

Monash council said the events were resolved 20 years ago and Professor Robinson had "led Monash with distinction and commitment throughout his term".
