Sheffield Hallam University has launched a £1 million recruitment drive to appoint new academics across all disciplines from PhD to principal lecturer level.

The posts, which are advertised in this week's Times Higher , are part of a longer-term project to enhance the academic reputation of the university.

Diana Green, vice-chancellor of Sheffield Hallam, said: "This is not a one off - it marks the beginning of a new strategy to develop existing staff and to ensure that new recruits are able to make an exceptional contribution to the university's performance and delivery of its vision.

"We know that our staff make the difference between a good and a great experience for our students, business associates and partners.

"When coupled with leading-edge facilities and a fresh, forward-thinking approach, we believe that Sheffield Hallam has something truly special to offer."

Sheffield Hallam hopes that the new blood will help the university's four faculties adopt a more interdisciplinary approach to work.

The recruitment is part of a wider university strategy to improve facilities over the next five years.
