The Department of Administrative Science and Administrative Law is a unit of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University which carries out educational and scientific research activities in both of the aforementioned fields, namely administrative law and, traditionally, administrative science. In terms of teaching, it primarily delivers compulsory modules covering the full scope of administrative law – that is, its general and specific parts – particularly within the Master’s programme in Law and Legal Science, the follow-up Master’s programme in Public Administration, and also within the Bachelor’s programmes, as well as a range of compulsory elective subjects focusing on specific areas or topics falling within the scope of administrative law in both the national and European contexts, and also in the field of administrative science. Your duties will include: delivering lectures, seminars and practical sessions at the department (particularly the general and specific parts of the curriculum, administrative procedural law, and selected topics from the field of administrative science), preparing study and teaching materials, including electronic materials, participating in research activities, including contributing to publications, contributing to the organisational management of research and teaching activities, including related administrative tasks contribution to the strategic management of the department We require: a completed Master’s degree from a law faculty, specialising in Law, Habilitation in accordance with the Higher Education Act, as amended, a genuine interest in administrative law and public administration, teaching focus on administrative law, teaching aptitude, or practical teaching experience, aptitude for independent academic and research work, the ability to teach and publish in Czech and English; knowledge of German is an advantage, the ability to actively participate in international conferences or specialist seminars and to establish cooperation with foreign partners good character, information regarding the employee’s other employment relationships within the meaning of Section 70 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research, the Director leads the Graduate Research Office and ensures high-quality, consistent and efficient delivery across the full candidature lifecycle, from admissions and scholarships through candidature management, supervision, examination and completion. About You You are an experienced senior leader with substantial expertise in research training, research management, higher education leadership, or a comparably complex policy-driven operational environment. You bring a sophisticated understanding of how policy frameworks translate into the day-to-day operation of a large, multi-stakeholder unit, and the credibility to operate as a peer to academic leaders across the University. You hold a genuine interest in line management at scale and in building careers. Understanding that colleagues are persuaded by leaders who are credible, evidence-led, and invested in their success, you are comfortable leading through influence as well as authority.
