A Scottish academic has helped to set out new rules for the treatment of patients with psoriasis after being inspired by her mother's 58-year battle with the disease. The guidelines will provide the "missing link" for doctors, leading to faster diagnosis and better treatment of the condition by GPs. Lorna McHattie, lecturer in pharmacy at Robert Gordon University, said: "I have several close family members who have suffered from psoriasis and have often received less than optimal treatment. I am therefore glad to be able to play a part in improving the treatment for people who have this condition."
