Queen's University Belfast - Unlocking the poverty trap

Researchers in Northern Ireland are taking part in the UK's largest study of poverty and social exclusion, which aims to find fresh solutions to deprivation. Researchers at Queen's University Belfast will examine social trends over the past decade. The three-and-a-half-year project will also involve academics from The Open University, Heriot-Watt University and the universities of Bristol, Glasgow and York. It is hoped the study will inform the work of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government and aid a review by Frank Field, Labour MP for Birkenhead, into how poverty should be measured.
