Life as a quality assessment manager may be more exciting than you think. Attending a recent QA workshop at a hotel on the outskirts of Cardiff last month, Peter Jones of Manchester Metropolitan University's faculty of management and business was a little surprised to be allotted the bridal suite and further disconcerted that said room contained a notice reading: "If you require assistance during the night reception the night porter will assist you." Professor Jones does not say whether he regarded this as excellent, satisfactory or requiring further visits from the assessors.
