Peace not war

五月 28, 2009

Peace triumphed over War - again - in the latest round of the Tolstoy Cup. The annual football match between teams from the peace studies department at the University of Bradford and the war studies department at King's College London finished with a 3-1 win for Peace. The victory continues a winning run for the team from Bradford, which retained the prize of a framed copy of Tolstoy's aptly named masterpiece War and Peace. The undefeated peace studies team included players from all academic levels, including undergraduates, masters and PhD students, as well as a mix of nationalities, with players from Japan, Germany, Nigeria and the Netherlands. All proceeds from the annual fixture will go to the University of Bradford's Amnesty Society. In the picture, Peace are wearing blue, while War are in red.
