Orwellian mystery

五月 17, 1996

I do not know where in Orwell's writings John Blundell (THES, May 3) found the injunction "This book should be read by everybody" referring to Hayek's The Road to Serfdom.

The only place in Orwell's work that I know of him referring to Hayek's book is in a review which couples it with Zilliacus's book, A Mirror of the Past, which appeared in The Observer on April 9, 1944. In that source I can find no trace of this injunction. Is there another reference that I have missed?
