Ulster University has appointed: Norman Black , pro vice-chancellor for academic development and student services; Denise McAlister , pro vice-chancellor for teaching and learning; pro vice-chancellor Jim Allen , provost of Magee Campus; Ann Moran , dean of the faculty of social sciences; Lucia Campbell , associate head of the School of Hotel, Leisure and Tourism, Mark Durkin , head of the School of Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Strategy; Philip Jordan , head of the School of Environmental Sciences; Angela Hegarty , head of the School of Law; Jackie McCoy , director of the Business Institute: Anna Murray , head of the School of Hotel, Leisure and Tourism; Alan Scott , director of student administration; Carol Cochrane , head of staff development; and Damian McGivern , head of the career development centre.
* Ian Greer , deputy dean and regius chair of obstetrics and gynaecology in the faculty of medicine, Glasgow University, has been appointed dean of Hull York Medical School and will take up the role in January 2007.
* Elizabeth Reissner , former advanced fellow in conservation of paintings at Balboa Art Conservation Center, San Diego, has been selected by the trustees at the CourtauldInstitute of Art as the first Caroline Villers fellow; Stephanie Buck , who has taught at Stadelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, has been appointed curator of drawings and will take up the post in November.
