Ulster University is about to launch a nursing course to deal with the type of problems emerging from Kosovo. The course was developed in the wake of previous crises in the former Yugoslavia. Ulster's nursing staff have drawn up the masters course in disaster-relief nursing in partnership with organisations such as Concern Worldwide and the British Red Cross. It has been specially designed to train nurses to work in war zones and disaster areas.
Course director Pat Deeny said: "It has been developed specifically in the light of a call from the World Health Organisation in the wake of previous relief efforts in the former Yugoslavia, where healthcare workers had difficulty."
