McKenna leaves UU

Gerry McKenna, former vice-chancellor of Ulster University, who has been fighting the early termination of his employment, will leave on February 28 under a confidential agreement reached this week.

Professor McKennna was due to stay in office until July 31 as president on a one-year appointment, but had not taken up his new duties, which were due to begin on August 1, 2005. He stood down as vice-chancellor after an investigation ruled that he had a case to answer over allegations ranging from bullying to being affected by alcohol at official university meetings.
