Lancaster institute to close
Lancaster University’s senate has voted to discontinue the Institute for English Language Education. A spokeswoman said some of the institute’s work would be transferred to the department of linguistics and a review group would decide the future of the 14 staff.

St Andrews sued over rape claim
Former St Andrews University student Erin McLean is to bring a £100,000 action against the university in October claiming that she was gang-raped during an exchange trip to Odessa, Ukraine, in 1996.
