Leeds science park moves ahead
Leeds University plans to create a £500-million, 110-hectare science park. A deal was being signed today with developers Thorpe Park for a “Knowledge Economy Campus” 10km from the city centre.
Foot and mouth costs zoos £1.5m

Roman dig produces rare armour
Experts from the University of Bradford say the recent discovery of hundreds of items of Roman armour in Carlisle is among the most important finds made in Britain from the period. Among the pieces uncovered on the site of a Roman fort was a scale shoulder guard, believed to be unique.
British women wear the wrong bras
More than 90 per cent of women in the UK are wearing the wrong-sized bra, according to research carried out by Marks & Spencer and Nottingham University. The research involved 2,000 women and some 46,000 measurements taken manually and with the latest 3-D scanning technology.
