Research stalled by foot and mouth
Agricultural research could be set back by six months or more by the foot and mouth crisis, a university farm director has warned. Research is at a standstill and trial programmes have been cancelled as universities take steps to restrict access to farms, said Martin Seabrook, farm director at Nottingham University.

Man charged with killing Durham student
A man appeared before magistrates today charged with the murder of University College Durham student Patrick Brown, who was found lying on a pavement at the foot of a 15m embankment on Saturday. A 24-year-old Durham man has been charged with murder.

Teesside professor among Selby crash victims
