Kenyan MP has degree withdrawn
Makerere University has cancelled a degree awarded to a Kenyan member of parliament in 1990 after it was discovered that she had used forged papers to gain admission. This is the 11th such case since the beginning of the year.
Bolivian academics accept pay deal
Academics at Bolivia’s Universidad Técnica de Oruro have ended strike action in return for an 8 per cent pay rise. Students there had argued that a 3.5 per cent increase would be sufficient because many professors already earned more than 10,000 Bolivianos (£1,000) a month.
