Books on topics ranging from human rights to memoirs are to be published by a new commercial publishing arm launched by Kingston University. Kingston University Press will aim to publish mainstream books that bring academic ideas to a wider readership, a strategy that the university said would complement its commitment to widening participation in higher education. Dave Rogers, head of the School of Humanities and KUP director, said he had come up with the idea for the press five years ago. "It's been a long road but we were utterly convinced that by setting up a press we could disseminate what's going on in the academic world to the general public and therefore contribute to wider debates," he said.
