Imperial College London - Greenhouse effect

七月 16, 2009

London scientists are now able to carry out large-scale plant experiments in an urban location for the first time, thanks to a £1 million rooftop greenhouse that has been opened on top of a five-storey university building. The GroDome at Imperial College London provides the institution's plant scientists with more than 200 sq m of temperature and light-controlled growing space. Experiments at the facility range from developing new sources of biofuel to helping sequence the tomato genome. The development is part of a wider project aimed at supporting plant science research on Imperial's South Kensington campus, which also involves the refurbishment of existing labs.
