The THESIM project "Towards Harmonised European Statistics on International Migration", supported by the Research Framework Programme, is holding a Press Conference in order to present its key findings to journalists, policy makers and NGOs.

The project raised questions such as: Do we have accurate data on migration in Europe? Are they comparable? Are they reliable? How can we understand them better? How can we improve policy-making in that domain?

The THESIM project has already held 25 national meetings and produced 25 country reports on issues such as international migration, asylum, residence permits and naturalisation of citizens. All meetings were organised with help of the National Statistics Offices of the member states and the National Contact Points of the European Migration Network.

The study was conducted by seven European research teams in collaboration with Eurostat.
