Historians at Teesside University have won Pounds 300,000 from the English funding council's Teaching and Learning Technology Programme to conduct research into new ways of using computer software in history teaching.
Steve Baskerville, director of the school of law, arts and humanities, said that before long, history students will have access to a vast range of electronic resources including original documents, pictures and numerical data that is currently unavailable in universities.
New classroom practice will also be investigated, including the use of electronic seminars where students can interact with each other via the world wide web.
