The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Israeli cellular phone company, Cellcom, have launched a service to enable students to receive their exam results and other information on the display screens of their cellphones, writes Helena Flusfeder in Jerusalem.
Students will also be able to find out about class cancellations, scholarships and the state of their payments to the university. Students can already receive personal status information via the internet.
The new electronic communication was developed by the university's department of computerised information services and will operate through the university's internet site via the Cellcom Text service of Cellcom.
Jacob Perry, president and chief executive of Cellcom, said: "We're speaking of a first stage of cooperation between Cellcom and the Hebrew University, with the intention of developing additional services in the future."
