Position Summary:
The Department of Art and Design at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in art history, beginning in fall 2025. The successful candidate will be the primary art history faculty member within a small, but thriving, department offering degrees in art history, studio art, and graphic design.Art history courses are an important component of all major and minor programs within the Department of Art and Design, as well as interdisciplinary minors in Museum Studies and Women's Studies. They also contribute to the university's Central Curriculum, particularly in the Artistic Expression and Writing Intensive areas, among others.The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 course load, including the two traditional world art history surveys, an additional variety of focused and topics-based art history classes (such as Contemporary Art History, Women in Art, Socially Engaged Art, Renaissance, and Modernism as examples), and potentially an annual section of the university's first-year seminar course. There is ample opportunity to teach within one's specialization and create new courses, however the successful candidate should expect to offer annual courses as needed by the department, drawn from the entire historical arc of the discipline. Susquehanna does not offer an Art Appreciation course. The successful candidate will also be expected to organize and lead a day trip to art galleries and museums in nearby urban centers once per academic year. Other responsibilities include university and departmental service, advising, recruiting, and program development.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or ABD in art history is required. A sustained research profile of distinction is expected.

Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience is preferred but may include graduate assistantships.

The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers.  The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

General Requirements

Lingnan University is looking for a well-qualified language specialist to head the CEAL. Applicants for the position should demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as having a proven record of curriculum/course development, delivery and assessment. Extensive management experience in a university English language centre or similar environment is desirable. S/he will have a PhD in English language (preferably Applied Linguistics) or a related area, a minimum of five years’ administrative experience, ten years of teaching experience in university English, and a track record of research and publication in language learning and teaching. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor of Teaching.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive.  Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Lingnan University

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated postgraduate or postdoctoral Research Assistant in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sleep, to work within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey.

This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr Ullrich Bartsch and in collaboration with the Prof Paul Gringras at the Evelina Children’s Hospital and King’s College London.

The role

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers with the main aim to develop the next generation of AI models to predict severe sleep disorders, such as narcolepsy, from signals collected using wearable devices including electroencephalography (EEG).

This will require expertise in time series analysis and feature engineering using multimodal timeseries, with a focus on EEG signals. Additionally experience in using different deep learning architecture for time series classification would be beneficial.

A second goal of the project is to develop the concept of a frontend for the dissemination of model generated predictions to clinical teams. Experience in frontend development and inclusion of user feedback into deep learning architectures using reinforcement learning or a or related technologies would be advantageous

You will be part of a vibrant research environment within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey – and included in the University-wide Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (PAI). Your work will involve leading, devising, coordinating, and supervising research projects, including the work involved in the collaborations with project partners, guidance to researchers and students, and applying for further funding to extend the research.

About you

You should hold a relevant postgraduate degree (Master’s) and/or hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil - with experience in the field of computer science, maths, biomedical engineering, or other fields relevant to the proposed area of research. Proven programming experience in Python, MATLAB or C/C++ is essential. Expertise in the analysis of time series data such as the Electroencephalogram (EEG) and/or analysis of data recorded by wearable devices would be highly advantageous.

About the opportunity 

As an English Language Teacher, you will teach English language programs to international students at the University's Centre for English Teaching (CET).

We are developing an eligibility list of Casual Teachers for our peak period consisting of 5-week terms commencing from June 2024 through to January 2025.

Available positions are mostly for experienced teachers of Academic English, full-time (20 hours per week) and part time (8 - 12 hours per week). This is a zero-hour contract and does not guarantee work throughout January 2025, as teaching hours are determined by the number of students and classes and the needs of the centre.

Classes are held Mondays - Fridays between 8.00am-12.15pm, 12.20pm-4.35pm or 4.40pm-9.00pm and delivered on-campus.

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Lead in MND Research to join our team for a NSW Ministry of Health funded research project. The goal of the project is to establish a pilot surveillance unit at Macquarie University for understanding the epidemiology of motor neuron disease (MND) in New South Wales. The Project Lead will manage and oversee the research activities to ensure the project achieves key milestones and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities


	Provide expert direction and project management support for the planning, implementation and reporting for the research project and activities.
	Lead project activities including participant recruitment, ethics and governance applications and monitor project progress to achieve key milestones and outcomes.
	Undertake research, collect and analyse data and information, and make recommendations to the project head and stakeholders to make informed decision on project deliverables.
	Identify potential risks or challenges and leverage expertise to apply and test solutions to actively address and mitigate risks.
	Lead the development of databases and other digital tools to support the projects, ensuring alignment with best practice and relevant policies.
	Manage partnerships with strategic stakeholder organisations.
	Oversee and monitor relevant project cost codes and manage project budgets, including reporting.

About Us

Macquarie Medical School is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) at Macquarie University. FMHHS is ambitiously pushing the boundaries of progressive thinking and challenging what is possible to solve some of the big issues of our time, both nationally and on a global scale. The Faculty forms part of MQ Health, an integrated academic health sciences enterprise which incorporates Macquarie University Hospital and primary and speciality clinics. We have active research programs in neurosciences (especially motor neuron disease, neurological rehabilitation, and the clinical neuroscience of pain), cancer medicine, and vascular science, amongst others.

Research for motor neurone disease (MND) and Parkinson's disease includes sponsored and investigator-initiated Phase I to IV trials, grant-funded research projects and academic research. We operate the largest Neurodegenerative Disease Biobank in Australia with over 70,000 biological samples supporting more than 30 research projects globally. Macquarie University Private Hospital runs patient clinics, labs, imaging and a pharmacy all on campus in close proximity to support clinical trials and support providing patients with access to state-of-the-art treatments.

About You 

You will be an excellent communicator with strong project management, planning and execution skills. You will hold a Bachelor's degree in a health related field with analytical skills and several years of highly relevant clinical research experience. Your interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels will be key to success in this role, as will your proven ability to proactively manage project deliverables and work both independently and in a team.
