Growing old is a happy experience

Growing old is a happier experience than many of us imagine, according to the findings of a study conducted at Queen's University Belfast.

The study, which was carried out by John Garry from Queen's on behalf of the Changing Ageing Partnership, looked at young people's attitudes to happiness in old age and how these affected their current health-related behaviour. The research found that, contrary to commonly held belief, old age does not mean a decline in happiness, and that older people are just as happy as younger ones.
