A medic at Imperial College London may face disciplinary action after forging the signatures of seven colleagues as authors of a published paper. The college began an inquiry after the New England Journal of Medicine retracted the article this week because it had learnt that those named as authors had not signed the forms certifying that they had reviewed the data and the manuscript. The college said: "We will set up an inquiry then look at whether there is any blame and whether disciplinary action is appropriate."
