Martin Nthakomwa, a postgraduate management student at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, is to run a barefoot ultramarathon between Glasgow and Perth, via Edinburgh, to pay for a new school in Malawi. He completed a trainerless trek between Lincoln and Sheffield earlier this year and raised Pounds 24,000 towards his goal of Pounds 100,000. He plans to run though Wales and Ireland if his Scottish feat does not raise enough funds. "I know quite a few people who are willing to take their holiday in Scotland next year so they can walk some of the way with me," Nthakomwa said.
