The HBLB accepts applications for grants for strategic basic and applied or clinical Equine Veterinary Research Projects which aim to improve the health and welfare of horses, particularly the racing or breeding Thoroughbred. Applications may be made in any relevant equine veterinary discipline.
Projects are funded for up to three years and grants usually begin on 1 October in any year. Variations to the start date will be considered. There are no set maxima or minima in the amounts of grants awarded for individual research projects. In evaluating applications, the VAC looks for well-planned, realistic budgets.
