Wordy speakers in University of Cambridge discussions risk having their contributions curtailed.

The university has decided to review arrangements for publishing the entire text of debates at its council.

No one is more shocked by this than Gill Evans, whose extensive contributions have long enlivened the pages of the University Reporter.

The move, she says, threatens "supression of minority views for the convenience of the central bodies" and "centuries of academic liberty".
