The founding director of the Centre for Commonwealth Education at the University of Cambridge is Christopher Colclough, who heads the international monitoring team for Education for All. Professor Colclough, a professorial fellow in development economics at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, also chairs the education expert group of the World Economic Forum's Global Governance Initiative. He expects to take up his appointment in the second half of 2004. The institute's decision to transfer its education functions to the centre was seen as a dilution of its mission to educate young people in the UK about the Commonwealth.
