College fails

Lancaster University's department of teaching and education at Charlotte Mason College. Ambleside, was criticised by OFSTED this week. Its report said the quality of training for the teaching of English and maths was unsatisfactory. The university may close the college (THES, March 8) because of inadequate resources to bring standards up to the required level. A decision is expected by the end of this month.
