A small number of Larger Grants may be made for projects which are of interest to the Scottish universities as a whole. These grants are not intended for individual research projects of a kind that would be submitted to a research council, and projects that have failed to secure funding from a council are not appropriate. The Trust does not expect to be the sole funder of a project and the other universities are expected to show their support in cash or in kind or in some other way.
Applicants must be a graduate of a Scottish University, or an established full-time member of staff of Scottish university. The Executive Committee can also, at its discretion, consider applications from members of staff who have retired from full-time posts in Scottish universities and who are not otherwise eligible as Scottish graduates. Prospective applicants are invited to discuss their proposals with the Trust's Secretary.
