IMAGES OF CONFLICT

Work by recent war artists will be exhibited at the Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster University, from October 10 to December 13. The exhibition offers a selection of contemporary art on loan from the Imperial War Museum, including John Keane's Gulf War paintings and featuring the work of Jock McFadyen, Terry Atkinson, Richard Davies, Deanna Petherbridge and Michael Sandle. TWO FACES OF EMIL KRAEPELIN The 14th Edward Mapother Lecture will be given by Michael Shepher, emeritus professor of epidemiological psychiatry (University of London), on "The Two Faces of Emil Kraepelin" at 5.30pm on November 9 in the Wolfson lecture theatre, Institute of Psychiatry, De Crespigny Park, London SE5.

HUMAN RIGHTS LECTURE David Bull, director, Amnesty International British Section, will give the annual human rights lecture on "War Crimes, Justice and Deterrents" at 8pm on November 3 in Room 140, Elvet Riverside I, New Elvet, Durham. POLICY PERSPECTIVES A workshop-based conference focussing on funding, quality, assessment and the academic year, has been organised by the AUT/NATFHE and will take place at the Britannia Street Conference Centre, London WC1 on November 18.
