Unsatisfying survey 2

I was surprised to see Nottingham Trent University categorised as having the least satisfied students with regard to its teacher training provision ("Who measures up to student expectations and who doesn't", September 23) as this is inconsistent with the evidence we have from internal and external sources.

We regularly monitor our provision to ensure that we meet the expectations of our students, Ofsted and the Training and Development Agency for Schools.

One of our recent student surveys undertaken in April revealed that 97 per cent of our students were satisfied with the quality of their courses (PGCE primary). In the same survey, 80 per cent of students were satisfied with the quality of support and guidance they received.

In the latest Ofsted reports, all aspects of our provision have been rated either excellent or good. In addition, in the TDA's Newly Qualified Teachers Survey 2005, 87 per cent rated our "overall quality" in the "very good" or "good" category against a national average of 84 per cent.

We also have the processes in place for students to raise their concerns, and we address them as quickly and efficiently as possible.
